Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Cancer touches and ultimately changes lives forever. It invaded my family and I lost my mother to the ugly 'C'. It is still hard to accept.
-
Although, I am proud to share that my sister will be 8-years well from breast cancer this December. Therefore, I encourage all women young and old to seek out a mammogram and if you can't afford it, look for the programs in your area that help those in need. If possible request a digital... they are amazingly clear.
-
October though is designated specifically to Breast Cancer Awareness which, is another way of saying ... do your self-exams... not only this month but every month. In addition, a selfless act of kindness could save a life... remind all those you know and even those you don't know to do their own exams.
-
If you would, every time you visit Our Lot, please leave by way of 'clicking out' on the pink Cancer logo on the side panel. Your selfless click will help support free mammogram programs... Thank You!

Remember, when you find it early a cure is possible! Go Pink!

I finally did it...

yup... I cut the 5th and most likely last ponytail for 'Locks of Love'

-
For those who have not heard of this foundation, it makes wigs for children fighting illness' that rob them of their hair. The wigs are made from 10-inches or more of human hair donations.
-
Yesterday I cut off a 19-inch ponytail donation. However, had I not been scared of going really short, I could have given 27-inches. In the past, I gave 12-inch ponytail donations on four separate occasions. But now those unwelcomed natural highlights are making themselves at home, hmmm to color or not to color that is now the question...
-
Today, I went to donate blood and dang if they didn't reject my iron count. I shall head over Saturday to try again so wish me luck. I'm gonna focus on eating a lot of IRON contributing food items, no caffeine and for me to go back is a sacrifice 'cos that needle prick flipping hurts... then when you try both hands and still get rejected... ugh! I then have to suffer the pain in the fingers for a day or two... that's right I'm delicate... lol so... let me have my pity party for now okay...

Just notes...

Taking a break with 'Ellen' so I thought I would blog a bit.
What the hay... it's already TuesDAY
-
I must be getting old 'cos I cannot remember much of what all happened yesterday. Not much on TV cept 'Prison Break' and oh intense it was. We didn't go for our evening walk 'cos we got a quick 0.05 inch of rain and because hubby saved some lives it was best for him to rest; my turn this weekend.
-
Today though much time was absorbed in front of the camera lens. I am determine to cut my last ponytail for 'locks of love' this week and I know I will never have my hair this long again! I also know I've said it before but I got lazy last time and it will happen this time. However, on the positive side, the delay will only benefit the children with a longer tail donation. This will be my 5th and unfortunately last because I'm starting to get the natural highlights. Hmm I'm not sure I feel ready... well back to business...
